OmniFocus crash on launch due to Developer ID expiration

If you’re experiencing a crash on launch in OmniFocus 2 for Mac, or if you see a message that OmniFocus quit unexpectedly whenever you try to open the app, please ensure that you’re running the latest version of the application. In January 2017 we renewed our Developer ID signature and shipped a new developer provisioning profile in version 2.8.2, but older releases were using a profile which was associated with our older Developer ID which was scheduled to expire on February 24th, 2017.

Anyone who is using OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” or macOS 10.12 “Sierra” will want to grab the latest OmniFocus update from our downloads page.

For those still on OS X 10.10 “Yosemite”, we’ve published an updated OmniFocus 2.7.4. It doesn’t have all the new features from 2.8 and later (so we do recommend upgrading to a more recent operating system when you can), but it does at least have a renewed provisioning profile to avoid this crash. OmniFocus 2.7.4 is also available from our downloads page.

The above information only applies to direct Omni Store customers. If you are a Mac App Store customer, you should continue to use the version of OmniFocus that you purchased and installed from the Mac App Store.

If neither of these builds solves your problem for some reason, please let us know!
