OmniPlan error: “No Java Runtime Present”

Earlier versions of OmniPlan (versions 1.0 through 2.2.4) required the use of a Java tool in order to export/import Microsoft Project files. Apple no longer includes Java with macOS, but there are a few ways you can resolve this problem if you’re still using these versions.

One solution would be to install a Java runtime from Apple’s Support Downloads site. Here is a link to their site, with multiple downloads available for each version of the operating system: https://support.apple.com/downloads/

That being said, with OmniPlan 2.3 we completely rewrote the Microsoft Project import and export tool, and the new tool does not require Java. If you’re an OmniPlan 2 license owner, check for updates to install the newest version of the app, and then try importing again. (OmniPlan 2.3 requires Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion or later.)

If you’re an OmniPlan 1 or 2 user and would like to upgrade to OmniPlan 3 (which also uses our new importer), as an existing customer you’re entitled to a discounted upgrade from our online store at https://store.omnigroup.com/.
