Whenever possible, we recommend running the most recent version of OmniPlan on all devices that will open or edit an OmniPlan project. If you or your team are using multiple versions of OmniPlan simultaneously, please be aware of the following changes:
- OmniPlan 3.0 for Mac & iOS introduced two new scheduling features: unlinked duration and effort and the meeting task type. If these scheduling options are used in a project edited in OmniPlan 3.0 or newer, older versions of OmniPlan that open the project will not respect these settings.
- OmniPlan 3.7 for Mac & 3.5 for iOS contain changes to OmniPlan’s scheduling logic. This is intended to make project scheduling more accurate by addressing things like rounding errors. As a result, there may be small discrepancies in project schedules between versions of OmniPlan.
- OmniPlan 3.10 for Mac & iOS include changes to how OmniPlan identifies projects as distinct from one another in order to reduce the possibility for dataloss when duplicating projects that sync with a server repository. Older versions of OmniPlan may not understand this change.
- OmniPlan 4.0 contains changes to OmniPlan’s scheduling logic and file format. While some versions of OmniPlan 3 are able to open projects created in OmniPlan 4, those versions of OmniPlan will not use the same scheduling logic when computing project schedules, so you may notice scheduling inconsistencies. We do not recommend syncing OmniPlan 4 projects with OmniPlan 3.
