How do I tell if I have the Pro version of OmniGraffle installed?
Starting with OmniGraffle 6, we’ve introduced a single download file that accepts both Pro and Standard license keys. Pro features are unlocked when the appropriate license key is entered, but the application will still be named OmniGraffle in the Finder, Dock and Menubar. After entering your Professional license and restarting, you should be able to confirm that you’re running Pro from the OmniGraffle menu. Look for the grey text that states ✓ Professional Purchased.
You can also confirm that you’re using Pro from the Licenses… window, accessed from the same OmniGraffle menu. At the top of the window you should see Software Licensed: OmniGraffle Professional 6.
What happened to the OmniGraffle 5 downloads?
Where’s the download link for the Pro version of OmniGraffle 6?
There’s now a single download for OmniGraffle that accepts both Pro and Standard license keys. Pro features are enabled when the appropriate license key is entered. During the free trial period, you can switch between Pro and Standard using the OmniGraffle > Free Trial Mode submenu.
I just installed OmniGraffle 6 and none of my stuff from OmniGraffle 5 is showing up.
OmniGraffle 6 is a completely new application, and comes bundled with a new set of stencils and templates. The Welcome document (Help > Getting Started) includes instructions for bringing over your existing custom stencils and templates.
Since so much has changed in the interface with OmniGraffle 6, it’s probably a good idea to review your interface settings rather than trying to copy them across wholesale.
You told me to upgrade my OmniGraffle, and now it doesn’t work! What do I do now?
OmniGraffle 6 is a paid upgrade for users of OmniGraffle 2, 3, 4 & 5. You can find out upgrade fee information at the Omni Store. You can download the latest versions using the following links:
Hey, every time I draw a line to another shape everything moves around and undoes my work! What gives?
Double-check to make sure that Automatic Layout isn’t turned on in the Diagram Layout Inspector. Some templates have this setting turned on by default to make the creation of properly laid out diagrams using the Outline Editor much easier.
Do you support import/export to Visio?
OmniGraffle Professional now imports Visio’s proprietary binary file format (VSD) as well as importing and exporting Visio’s XML document format, VDX. This is a pro-only feature, so the Standard version of OmniGraffle does not support import or export of Visio documents.
I just upgraded to OmniGraffle 6, and now everything’s in English. How can I switch to the language of my preference?
OmniGraffle 6 is not yet localized, so for now the application is only available in English. We’ll be adding the other languages back in a forthcoming free update. We’ve started the localization process but it does take some time, so thanks for your patience in the meantime!
Once localizations have been added to OmniGraffle, the application will default to the primary language you’ve selected in System Preferences. As long as you are regularly checking for and installing updates, the interface should automatically switch over to a localization once it becomes available.
I can’t access the OmniGraffle help documentation. What do I need to do to fix this?
To resolve your issue, you will need to delete the Help Viewer Preferences files (
~ is your home directory). This will reset Help Viewer and allow you to use OmniGraffle Help properly again. You may also wish to do the same to the Help Viewer cache (located at
Wow, this is the coolest application I’ve ever seen! Where’s the version for Windows or Linux?
While nothing is impossible (with the possible exception of traveling faster than the speed of light), a Windows or Linux version of OmniGraffle would be highly improbable, as there’s simply too much “under the hood” in OmniGraffle that’s tied directly to the Cocoa API available only in Mac OS X.
