Omni Accounts are now available as the method for registering your Omni app purchases and subscriptions.
In addition to keeping track of your purchases for the purpose of upgrade pricing and restoring to new hardware, you can share apps tied to a single Omni Account between members of your family. This includes personal licenses purchased from the Omni Store and the iOS and Mac App Stores, as well as cross-platform subscriptions.
Family sharing applies to personal licenses only; team subscriptions and licenses are excluded. Sharing applies on a per-platform basis (Mac and iOS apps are purchased and shared separately), other than OmniPlan 4 for Mac, which is a universal license that also includes the upcoming OmniPlan 4 for iOS.
When sharing OmniFocus, each family member can use their own Omni Account credentials to log into Omni Sync Server and sync their own database, after separately using a shared Omni Account to unlock the app on Mac or iOS.
OmniFocus for the Web is currently the only app that cannot be shared (since it is subscription-only, and an OmniFocus for the Web subscription is associated with a single OmniFocus database).
Sharing Omni Store Purchases With Your Family
Under the licensing terms for apps registered with an Omni Account, a single account can be used to unlock its associated apps for other immediate family members living in the same household.
To share an app with other members of your family that was purchased as a traditional license through the Omni Store, first make sure you have created an Omni Account and registered the app license with that account.
If you purchased the app after creating an Omni Account, it should already be associated with your account—no license key is presented and no registration is required. If you purchased the app before the Omni Account system was in place you can use this link to associate your license key with your account.
Once the app is associated with your Omni Account, have your family member download the app from the Omni website and choose to Sign In to your Omni Account when they first launch the app. Enter your account credentials here, and the app is unlocked for use by that family member.
If your family member has another Omni Account already associated with the app (perhaps for purposes of beginning a trial), choose App Menu > Manage Omni Account and Purchases and log out of that account before logging in with your own credentials to unlock the app for them.
If using the app in Free Viewer mode, choose App Menu > Unlock Appname to do the same.
Sharing Mac App Store Purchases With Your Family
As with apps purchased from the Omni Store, any of Omni’s applications that you buy from the Mac App Store can be associated with your Omni Account. As part of buying Standard, Pro, or a Subscription via in-app purchase (App Menu > In-App Purchases) you are asked to sign in to your Omni Account; doing so automatically associates the purchase with this account.
If restoring a previous in-app purchase, you may need to choose App Menu > Manage Omni Account and Purchases and enter your Omni Account credentials to associate the purchase with your account. See Registering an In-App Purchase for step by step instructions.
Once the purchase is tied to your account, your family members can download the app and use your account credentials to log in and unlock (with App Menu > Unlock Appname) the purchased feature set for them.
When sharing Mac App Store purchases between family members, for ease of troubleshooting we recommend that family members download the app from the Omni website rather than the Mac App Store, and follow the instructions in the section above to unlock them.
Sharing iOS App Store Purchases With Your Family
For purchases on iOS or iPadOS, as with the Mac App Store, you are asked to sign in to your Omni Account before making an in-app purchase to unlock the features you want.
After purchase, open the app on your family member’s device and choose Omni Account from the App Menu (represented by a gear icon in the document browser toolbar or OmniFocus home screen). Enter your Omni Account credentials there, and the subscription is unlocked for the app on that device.

Sharing Subscriptions With Your Family
Since subscriptions unlock the app for all platforms, you can purchase your subscription anywhere, and as long as the subscription is linked to your Omni Account you can use your account credentials to unlock the subscription on your family members’ devices.

The one exception to family sharing subscriptions is OmniFocus for the Web, where your OmniFocus sync database is tied to your Omni Account via Omni Sync Server. All other app subscriptions can be shared through your Omni Account just as you would share an individually purchased license.
